As Kashmiri Pandits’ Martyrs Day Or Balidan Diwas

On 14 September,1989, a prominent Kashmir Pandit leader , Tika Lal Taploo ,was gunned down and killed by the militants outside his own house in Srinagar. He was the first victim of the militancy which followed the barbaric killing of many more Kashmiri Pandits and Hindus and the other prominent Kashmiri Hindu leaders.  The commemoration of 14 September as the Kashmir Hindus’ Martyrs Day highlights the 1990 mass exodus and displacement of Kashmiri Pandits/Hindus from the Valley.
