The UK Home Office is developing a digital immigration system. The paper documents are being replaced with the online record of persons immigration status, known as eVisa. The paper documents are being replaced by biometric residence permits (BRP) and biometric residence cards (BRC)
An eVisa is an online record of persons immigration status and the conditions of persons permission to enter or stay in the UK. It is important to create UK Visa Immigration (UKVI) account to access one’s eVisa. It is free to create UKVI account. The eVisas will be linked to a person’s passport in the UKVI account. Updating the paper documents to eVisas does not affect persons immigration status or conditions of one’s permission to stay in the UK. The paper documents with one’s passport are valid only till 31 December 2024 and after that they will be replaced by eVisas. The relevant information about one’s immigration status will be automatically shared with some governments departments and other public authorities.
There are many benefits of eVisas, such as they are secure and cannot be lost or stolen. It will be quicker and easier to prove one’s status at the UK border and share one’s status with employers and landlords.
