A delegation of Hindus led by International President of World Hindu Federation (WHF) Dr Ajay Singh, first lady Shankaracharya of Nepal and General Secretary of Hindu council UK Mr. Rajnish Kashyap reached Budapest, the capital of Hungary on April 28th. The five members WHF delegation which arrived at Budapest on April 28 and 2nd may were welcomed at the Budapest airport by WHF President of Hungary Dr. Aniko Kotroczo, Madam Zsuzsanna Kotroczo and others.
The representatives from World Hindu Federation including Dr Singh and Shankaracharya of Nepal Hemanand Giri, President of WHF Hungary chapter Dr Aniko Kotroczo, Zsuzsanna Kotroczo and General Secretary of Hindu Council UK Mr. Rajnish Kashyap called on Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Zsolt Semjén (FIDESZ), opposition leader of Hungary Toth Bertalan to discuss Hindu Dharma, culture, yoga and Ayurveda among other issues
It may be mentioned World Hindu Federation recently organized Varanasi Conclave at Varanasi in India in which representatives from 28 countries participated—which included representatives from Germany, Hungary, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Indonesia. The delegation also called on deputy Prime Minister of Hungary Zsolt Semjen and stressed on the need for treating Hindu as a religion in Hungary.
Last year World Hindu Federation (WHF), Sarasvati Foundation and Siva Shakti Sadhana Kendra Trust made a decision to stabilise the importance of India in religious, cultural and educational field in Eastern-Central Europe. The leader of this vision/project is the Hungarian Sarasvati Foundation, where more than 3000 students participated in yoga, Ayurveda and yoga therapy courses under the surveillance of Indian gurus. A further meeting was held at London office of Mr. Anil Bhanot founding member of HCUK in February 2019 where he introduced Mr. Kashyap to Dr. Aniko Kotroczo and Ms Zsuzsanna Kotroczo. During this meeting Dr. Aniko invited Mr. Kashyap and Mr. Bhanot to Hungary for the meetings which were to be held in April/May 2019.
Dr. Aniko of Sarasvati Foundation organised one-week program for the delegation. The delegation arrived on 28th of April 2019 and met with:
- Mr. Bertalan Tóth – leader of the biggest opposition party in the Parliament (social democrat leader)
- All parties represented in the Hungarian Parliament (FIDESZ-governing; MSZP; Jobbik; DK) leading politicians whom are responsible for India and Hinduism
- Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Zsolt Semjén (FIDESZ)
- made a cultural event with the Embassy of India in Hungary, where the guest of honour was the Ambassador Mr. Kumar Tuhin.
During the negotiations
Mr. Singh and Shankaracharya stressed on Strengthening India and the issue of Hinduism within the EU.
Mr. Kashyap advised to create an umbrella organization based in Budapest, which coordinates the activities of Hindu organizations from a religious-educational perspective and on interaction with all leaders of Historical Religions in Hungary ((Catholic, Calvinist, Jewish, Greek Eastern Orthodox Church)
Dr. Aniko discussed on Establishing a Hindu mandir (temple) and educational center in Budapest Incorporate Hinduism as a true Historical Religion
During the next visit – which will be held in the second half of this year – Lady Shankaracharya and other members of delegation will meet all leaders of Historical Religions in Hungary (Catholic, Calvinist, Jewish, Greek Eastern Orthodox Church, ISCON) and would also like to talk about the venue of the new mandir and educational centre in Budapest, what Deputy Prime Minister agreed to her. Other, related issues will be covered and the religious support that the Hungarian state must provide (by the EU law – free religious practice in the EU)
