Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Pranaam.
As you must be all aware the Government has now passed legislation by which Caste Discrimination becomes one of the nine categories which will have legal recognition.
Government is seeking to consult with the Hindu community as regards its possible ramifications and the Alliance of Hindu Organisations (AHO) would like to present the history and lessons learned over the last few weeks during the short consultation period that the AHO has been engaged with the Government and other Stakeholders.
We would like to invite you to join us for a meeting where all Hindu Organisations, Temples, Businesses and Groups will be present:
AT: BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir, 105-119 Brentfield Road, Neasden, London NW10 8LD
ON Wednesday 8th May
TIME: 7pm. The meeting will be followed by dinner.
AGENDA :
6.30pm : Please come early so that you can meet other community representatives.
7.00pm : Prathna/Aarti
7.10pm : Welcome by Jitu Patel and Gauridas Ji
7.20pm : Presentation by AHO
8.30PM : Dinner
PLEASE NOTE :
Government would like to consult with the Hindu Community meaning that we should be engaged in email and postal campaigns with your local MP etc. Therefore it is advisable to bring with you, your team member who would be in charge of working with your devotees on such a campaign.
One thing that has become very clear is that our voice is important to the government and the Ministers – but we are not heard if we do not speak. It is important that you attend the meeting so that you can hear first hand in order to participate in the consultation process and even more importantly, to be part of a strategy for further consultation with the Ministers.
PLEASE NOTE : AHO view on Caste is clear – we do not agree with any kind of Caste based discrimination. However, we disagreed that any form of legislation should come into force without due consultation and full understanding of its implication with our community.
UNLESS WE BRITISH HINDUS PARTICIPATE WE COULD EASILY END UP WITH THE SAME CASTE LEGISLATION WHICH HAS KEPT HINDU FIGHTING HINDU IN INDIA FOR 60 YEARS.
Please forward this email to everyone who is concerned with this issue.
Thank you.
Kind regards
On behalf of the Alliance of Hindu Organisations (AHO)
