Battle of Britain parade and dinner at RAF Northolt

“Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few”, Sir Winston Churchill.

Air Chief Marshal Mike Wigston CBE Group Captain Nick Worrall

The Nazi Germany set out to destroy the RAF so as to have a clean passage through the Channel to invade England as it had done with France and Spain but the RAF valiantly held off the German attack over the summer of 1940. The battle of Britain lasted three and half months with nearly a thousand planes lost – Spitfires and Hurricanes – but with a decisive victory for the RAF.

Justin Bronk (RUSI) Air Vice Marshal Alan Gillespie CBE Group Captain (Retd) Patrick Tootal OBE DL

The Air Force Board of the Defence Council held a dinner in the Officers Mess at RAF Northolt to commemorate the occasion.
