The IEKF Executive and members join the KPs/KHs all over the world to observe the Holocaust Day on 19 January 2014.The dreadful events of 19 January, 1990 that culminated in the mass and forced exodus of Kashmiri Pandits and Kashmiri Hindus from the valley of Kashmir, still haunt the Kashmiri Hindus across the globe. Twenty four years ago Kashmiri Hindus were gunned down mercilessly by the militants in the valley , they were forced to experience the cold-blooded murders, burning of their homes and bear the atrocities that were inflicted on them. The memories of this day will always remain engraved in our minds.
19 January is observed by all Kashmiri Pandits and Kashmiri Hindus with great solemnity all over the world to commemorate “the seventh exodus” of Kashmiri Pandits from the valley. The observation of this day also reminds us that the Central and the State Governments have failed to protect the small minority of Kashmir Hindus in the valley .The continued neglect of the community by both Governments and the prolong time away from our homeland is making our return to the land of our ancestors difficult. Our repeated representations and pleadings have been ignored and have gone unheeded.
We wish to make the world community aware of the ethnic cleansing of the Kashmiri Hindus from the valley by the bullets of the Islamic fundamentalists that killed hundreds and thousands of Kashmiri Hindus. The continued violations of their Human Rights are gradually making our race extinct.
We pay homage to our brave Kashmiri Hindu men and women who lost their lives for us. We applaud their bravery and the sacrifices they made for us.
Editors Notes:
The Indo-European Kashmir Forum is the voice of the displaced Kashmiri Hindus in India and in the valley. The organization was founded in the late eighties with the support of the wider Indian communities. It continues to highlight the plight of Kashmiri Hindus who have become the victims of terrorism.
