The Board of Directors and the Executive Members of the Hindu Council UK are deeply saddened with the news of devastating flash floods and landslides that hit Nepal due to the collapse of a glacier in the Himalayas. The flash floods caused the Trishula river at the Nepal Tibet border to burst its banks sweeping several villages with it resulting in a huge loss of life, and many people are missing, including the British Hindus who went on a pilgrimage trip to offer their prayers to Lord Shiva at his abode of the holy mountain Kailash and take a dip in the holy Mansarovar lake.
We pray in solidarity with all our temples for the people of Nepal and extend our sympathies and condolences to the Nepalese community, and the British Hindu tourists and their families who have been directly impacted, for their safety and strength.
We pray that God gives the affected communities the strength and courage to rebuild the their lives in the difficult times ahead.
We recommend donations to our Hindu Charity Foundation, Sewa UK, who have had a long track record of saving communities in crisis hit areas in the entire Indian Subcontinent, for all victims of whichever faith and only on humanitarian grounds. Sewa UK has shown in the past that with its international arm when it enters a crisis hit area it stays there long enough to make sure the infrastructure, the houses, and people’s lives are rebuilt at a sustainable level.
