Today the Office for Civil Society and Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government have launched the Civil Society Strategy Engagement Exercise:
https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/civil-society-strategy-have-your-say
The Strategy is being developed through open dialogue across sectors as we build upon experiences from the past and shape the future of government’s work with and for civil society.
Have your say on how government can work with and for civil society to tackle challenges and unlock opportunities to build a stronger society now and in the future.
From supporting the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in society to the work of charities, community groups and businesses helping good causes, civil society is part of the fabric of our society.
The Government want to have an open conversation about civil society, what is working well, and what government can do to strengthen it further. If you want to help create a stronger civil society, they want you to share your ideas on how government can work with and support civil society to:
* support people – including young people – to play an active role in building a stronger society;
* unlock the full potential of the private and public sectors to support social good;
* help improve communities to make them better places to live and work in
build stronger public services.
The online platform will gather views from as many people as possible over the coming weeks. I would very much welcome your support in encouraging people to contribute to the conversation, by helping us to raise awareness through your organisation’s channels and networks. Please do share the link to the online platform and use #CivilSocietyStrategy.
One of the three themes of the engagement focuses on ‘Place’, looking at the role civil society and government can play in improving communities and building better places where people live and work. Issues relating to localism and public service innovation are throughout the engagement, which is developed jointly between the Office for Civil Society and Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
